pH of blood

The pH scale ranges from 0 (very acidic) to 14 (very alkaline). Blood is usually between 7.35 to 7.45.

Blood pH should always be balanced. An increase in alkali is typically  an increase in bicarbonate, a drop in acid levels, or a decrease in carbon dioxide (a base). 

An increase in alkaline causes pH levels to rise. When the levels of acid in your blood are too high, it's called acidosis. When your blood is too alkaline, it is called alkalosis. Respiratory acidosis and alkalosis are due to a problem with the lungs.

A doctor evaluates a person's acid-base balance by measuring the pH and levels of carbon dioxide (an acid) and bicarbonate (a base) in the blood.

Blood alkalinity increases when the level of acid in the body decreases or when the level of base increases.

pH of urine

Urine tests measure the level of acid in the body. Optimal pH levels are between 6.5 and 7.5. When the pH level is lower than 6.5, the body is considered acidic and when the pH level is higher than 7.5, the body is considered alkaline.

pH of water

When the pH of water becomes greater than 8.5, water taste can become more bitter. This elevated pH can also lead to calcium and magnesium carbonate building up in your pipes. While this higher pH doesn't pose any health risks, it can cause skin to become dry, itchy and irritated.

Alkaline diet

Alkaline diets tend to be low in fat and calories, naturally promoting a healthy body weight and lowering heart disease risk factors. It should reduce or eliminate red and processed meats for removing a major contributor to heart disease from the diet.

Keep your lungs and kidneys healthy to help them keep your acids and bases in balance by incorporating exercise into your daily life, with at least 20 minutes of cardiovascular exercise five times per week. Drink water to hydrate your system and aid your kidneys in their filtration and elimination of toxins.
